Bitwise is transferring their flagship crypto index fund to NYSE Arca. What does this mean? Simply put, it means that assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana are being brought into a more mature, standardized, and mainstream financial environment. With institutions entering the market at an accelerated pace this year, from ETFs to custody services, diversified crypto assets are entering traditional finance at a faster pace. Bitwise’s migration is another step in this trend – it allows investors to access a variety of crypto assets more easily, and brings the crypto market closer to Wall Street.

Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF moved to NYSE Arca
Bitwise Asset Management announced on December 9 that its Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF (BITW) is now available for trading on NYSE Arca as an exchange-traded product. This move represents a significant improvement over the previous over-the-counter trading model. The announcement stated that Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF will be listed on NYSE Arca, becoming an exchange-traded product. The company explained that BITW tracks the Bitwise 10 Large Crypto Index, with active screening and monthly rebalancing conducted. At the time of listing, the fund’s holdings consist of 74.34% Bitcoin, 15.55% Ethereum, 5.17% XRP, 3.07% Solana, 0.65% Cardano, 0.39% Chainlink, 0.26% Litecoin, 0.24% Avalanche, 0.24% Sui, and 0.14% Polkadot. Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer, said, “Most of the investors we work with believe that cryptocurrencies will remain relevant in the long term, but they don’t know who will be the winners.” He added that using an index-based approach allows investors to participate without needing to predict market leaders. Other details indicate that BITW will allocate 90% of its holdings to crypto assets held by approved single-cryptocurrency ETPs, with the remaining assets being limited to no more than 10%. Hunter Horsley, CEO, said, “This is a pivotal moment for cryptocurrencies as an asset class… 2025 marks the beginning of their rapid integration into mainstream asset categories.”“With BITW being recognized as an ETP today, cryptocurrencies are finally getting access to index funds traded on the NYSE,” said Horsley. “We believe that investing through BITW’s index funds will become one of the most effective ways for investors to gain exposure to this asset class. Bitwise has eight years of experience in providing investors with access to this area. We are thrilled to continue this work today.”
The company emphasizes the role of its advisory board in overseeing the index methodology, which takes into account factors such as liquidity, custody, security, and regulatory aspects. As institutional participation increases and regulations become clearer, diversified index products like BITW continue to play a crucial role in expanding access for investors, while also supporting long-term investment strategies.
