The U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF experienced significant outflows on Wednesday

According to data from Farside Investors, the U.S. -listed spot Bitcoin ETF experienced significant outflows on Wednesday, with a net redemption amount reaching US$120.2 million. This brought total outflows to $166.8 million for the two days this week as trading days were reduced due to shortened holidays.

Redemptions and inflows of major ETFs

Among many funds, the ARK21 Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) has the largest single-day redemption, losing US$78 million. The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC) followed closely with an outflow of $27.2 million, while BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) recorded a net redemption of $19.5 million.

Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) became the only spot Bitcoin ETF to report inflows on Wednesday, increasing $4.5 million.

The mid-week outflow followed Tuesday's net redemption of US$46.6 million, marking the first time that the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF has seen two consecutive days of outflows since it ended its three-consecutive rising cycle on August 14. During the two trading days, GBTC lost a total of $92.7 million, ARKB recorded redemptions of $69.9 million, and IBIT reported a net outflow of $8.8 million.

Impact on cumulative capital flows

The two-day decline erased 4.4% of the approximately US$3.8 billion net inflows during the strongest three-week accumulation period of ETF in 2026. Although the total cumulative net inflow of Bitcoin ETF since its launch is currently approximately US$55 billion, overall net flow in 2026 shows an outflow of approximately US$1.07 billion.

Ethereum and Solana ETF dynamics

In contrast to the Bitcoin ETF retracement, the U.S. spot Ethereum ETF rebounded on Wednesday, achieving a net inflow of $34.7 million, offsetting a $24.3 million outflow on Tuesday, resulting in a net inflow of $10.4 million this week. BlackRock's ETHB led the way, attracting $22.9 million, followed by its ETHA fund with an inflow of $9.7 million. 21Shares 'TETH fund increased by $2.1 million, and other Ethereum ETFs did not record significant traffic changes.

The spot Solana ETF also reversed the situation, bouncing back from a $700,000 outflow on Tuesday to a $11.2 million inflow on Wednesday. This pushed their two-day net inflow to $10.5 million, dominated entirely by Bitwise's BSOL fund.

Meanwhile, the Hyperliquid ETF recorded a second day of consecutive withdrawals, losing $5.3 million on Wednesday, following a $13 million outflow on Tuesday, bringing the total net outflow to $18.3 million this week.

Cryptocurrency price trends

As ETF fund flows fluctuate, Bitcoin traded close to $78,000 on Thursday, down from about $79,700 when three-week net inflow data was previously reported. According to CoinGecko data, Ethereum is priced at about $2,470, while Solana is trading at close to $101.

The U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF achieved a $120.2 million outflow on Wednesday, with funds from ARK21 Shares, Grayscale and BlackRock all experiencing significant redemptions. Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin Trust remained the only ETF to attract new investment during this period.
