DWG Labs subsidiary sues BitGo for $141 million over token lock-in breach

A subsidiary of DWG Labs sued BitGo in the High Court of London for US$141 million.

According to CoinDesk, the subsidiaries of DWG Labs, DWG Maas and Falcon Digital, have filed a lawsuit against cryptocurrency custodian service provider BitGo in the High Court of London. The plaintiff alleges that BitGo sold Falcon Finance and ESPORTS tokens at a discount before the end of the three-month lock-up period, and the dispute caused by the dispute resulted in claims amounting to US$141 million.

The lawsuit was originally disclosed by the Financial Times on October 9. The complaint alleges that because the two investment institutions still held large positions, BitGo's early selling behavior depressed the token price. The plaintiff argued that BitGo received discounts on private token sales that the assets must remain locked, but BitGo transferred the tokens to the exchange about two months before the first planned unlock period. DWG said it communicated with BitGo about the matter in April and May, but after the custodian failed to provide relevant commitments, it took legal action to claim US$114 million for losses caused by falling prices.

Specific charges in the lawsuit

The dispute involves two assets: one is Falcon Finance (FF), whose price was approximately US$0.08 at the beginning of the lock-up period in early March and fell to approximately US$0.07 in late April; the other is ESPORTS, whose price was approximately US$0.28 in mid-March and fell to US$0.07 in early June. The British Virgin Islands-based DEM Maas and Panamanian Falcon Digital alleged that BitGo's early selling directly resulted in the loss of its remaining token holdings.
