Will AI crack cryptocurrency encryption? Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin expressed his views on the

Isabel Foxen Duke, head of the Mara Foundation, a Bitcoin anti-quantization project, told Decrypt: "It is widely believed that quantum computers 'destruction of cryptography is mainly limited to elliptic curve cryptography and RSA. However, breakthroughs in cryptography caused by classical methods, such as methods that may be generated by AI, may affect those types of cryptography that are generally considered to be quantum secure, such as lattice cryptography. If we take into account concerns about classic cracking, we must adopt a more conservative strategy."

Therefore, Buterin believes that any trellis cipher system should be significantly increased in size to improve security. Currently, the founder of Ethereum believes that hash-based cryptography is a better path to anti-quantization, but he also added that in theory, AI-driven mathematical advances could also crack the hash function.

Experts advise caution and no panic transfer of assets.

Ananda Banerjee, founder of analytics firm Charlie Quant Lab, told Decrypt: "I should not regard Vitalik's two-year deadline as an ultimatum. The post did not prove that these systems had actually been cracked. I recommend being fully prepared rather than rushing to transfer funds."

Buterin did not propose extreme measures to deal with this "seemingly reasonable" doomsday scenario. He recommended keeping funds in addresses where transactions have not been made because the public key of such addresses has not been exposed, greatly reducing the risk of being attacked.

It is worth noting that just a month ago, Buterin claimed that AI would not endanger the security of cryptocurrencies, believing that security protection measures would advance in parallel with the development of AI. His latest remarks may imply that there may be a certain deviation in the previous development direction of the industry.
