Currently, the identity of the owner of these receiving addresses is not clear. Although blockchain records show the flow of funds between addresses, its specific purpose cannot be determined. As of Thursday, there was no evidence that the transfer was accompanied by a sale of Bitcoin. This activity follows another transfer of seized bitcoin and BNB reported on October 7. During that transfer, 833.6 bitcoins worth approximately US$71.56 million were sent to Coinbase Prime, and another 40,285 BNBs were transferred through other independent addresses.

Coinbase Prime receives early transfers

Galaxy Research tracked that approximately 9,261 bitcoins (worth approximately US$770 million) entered Coinbase Prime between October 6 and 7. The researchers linked many of the coins to past government seizures and identified an additional 2,456 bitcoins from wallets that had not been previously marked as government-held.

Since Coinbase Prime mainly provides custody and trading services, the deposit of funds does not directly confirm that a sale occurred. In addition, FTX-related wallets sent approximately $94.15 million in USDT to Coinbase Prime. During these three days, the total transfer amount reached approximately US$1.87 billion. It is worth noting that these transfers occurred as the U.S. Bitcoin ETF recorded a large outflow of funds on October 7, with a net outflow of approximately US$485 million that day, the largest one-day loss since June. On Thursday, Bitcoin prices traded around $82,000.

Bitfinex compensation program complicates Bitcoin sales claims
