[TAG Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger is investigating cryptocurrency loss incidents involving purchases from Southeast Asian dealers

Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger is investigating reports of cryptocurrency loss due to purchases from Southeast Asian dealers and warning affected customers to consider transferring assets to new wallets during the investigation. [TAG Ledger said in a statement posted on Platform X that, as a precautionary measure, it had asked dealer CryptoBilis to suspend sales and shipments of its equipment. Customers who have purchased equipment from this dealer within the past 90 days are advised not to set up these devices; those who have should consider using the newly generated mnemonic to transfer assets to new Ledger signature devices.

CryptoBilis is listed as an authorized Ledger dealer in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Ledger has not disclosed the number of customers potentially affected or the value of reported losses so far. The company also did not determine the cause of the incident or confirm whether the equipment had been compromised. [TAG

At the same time, on-chain researchers reported suspected cryptocurrency thefts involving multiple blockchain addresses. Researcher Tanuki42 identified eight wallet addresses allegedly associated with losses of more than $72 million, while another investigator Specter estimated losses of more than $86 million on networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Wavefield.

Ledger has not confirmed any of the above estimates, and the extent of any correlation with the CryptoBilis survey remains unclear.
