Bitcoin rebounds to around $83,000, Coinbase and Strategy shares rebound
On Friday, Bitcoin prices rebounded to about $83,000 as shares of Coinbase and Michael Saylor's Strategy company rebounded. However, the price of Bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency, is still about 34% below its historical high.
Related stocks rebound with Bitcoin
According to market reports, Coinbase shares rose nearly 5% in Friday's trading, while Strategy initially rose about 2.2% in pre-market trading. Robinhood's share price also rose, reflecting investors cautiously returning to cryptocurrency-related stock markets.
In the past 24 hours, Bitcoin has recovered from its decline in the previous trading day, with an increase of about 1%-1.5%, and its price has returned to above US$81,000. At the same time, Brent crude fell about 1.5% to about $103 a barrel, helping to ease market concerns about rising inflation and further monetary tightening.
For Coinbase, improved cryptocurrency prices are expected to support its trading volume and trading revenue. However, its share price also reflects expectations for institutional services, subscription revenue and regulatory dynamics. Morgan Stanley raised its price target for Coinabse to $258 from $250, while Citizens lowered its price target to $280 from $325.
Strategy presents a different investment logic because its share price is closely linked to the value of the huge bitcoin assets it holds. The company recently purchased an additional 334 bitcoins, bringing the total number of bitcoins it holds publicly to 848,000.
Why is Bitcoin still 34% below its historical high?
Bitcoin hit a high of about US$126,080 in October 2025, and then entered a long adjustment period. In the summer of 2026, the cryptocurrency once fell to around $58,000, but then rebounded more than 40% from its low. Still, the rally seemed powerless in the face of increasingly tightening financial conditions.
Rising U.S. Treasury yields have made interest-bearing assets more competitive, while high oil prices have exacerbated inflation concerns and lowered market expectations for the Fed's easing policy. The recent sell-off of Bitcoin below $83,000 shows how quickly these pressures trigger leverage liquidations.
Can Bitcoin recover the US$100,000 mark?
The next challenge facing Bitcoin is to regain the US$85,000 to US$87,000 range, where many previous attempts to rebound have been blocked. Citigroup recently raised its 12-month bitcoin price target to $113,000, indicating that some institutional analysts still expect bitcoin to appreciate further. At the same time, QCP Capital pointed to US$80,000 to US$82,000 as a potential buying area.
