Coinbase has announced the launch of a stablecoin called USD1. This stablecoin is issued by World Liberty Financial (WLFI), and has the endorsement of the Trump family. The combination of “Trump family” and “stablecoin” makes this initiative quite attractive. However, there is still a gap between reality and public interest. Although USD1 has been successfully launched on Coinbase, its daily trading volume is still nearly 200 times lower compared to that of the established stablecoin USDT. Can USD1 truly challenge the dominance of stablecoins? Or will it be just a fleeting phenomenon? This might be what everyone is most interested in right now.

President Trump’s eldest son quickly shared this news.

Subsequently, Eric Trump, CEO of WLFI and President Trump’s eldest son, also shared the news on social media, hinting at further developments ahead. With the strong support of the Trump family, USD1 quickly attracted attention from institutional investors. For example, Bullish Exchange used USD1 to handle its IPO funds, and Abu Dhabi’s sovereign fund MGX completed a $2 billion transaction using USD1 through Binance.

USD1 was launched in March 2025, with a 1:1 peg to the US dollar, based on the Etherium ERC-20 standard. In just five months, its circulation has rapidly increased to approximately $2.4 billion. It has also shown impressive market penetration on the BNB chain. According to a report released by blockchain analysis company TK Research on May 28th, USD1 accounted for nearly 90% of market share in microlending transactions on the BNB chain during the week after May 21st.

What is USD1? It’s a US-dollar stablecoin launched by the Trump family.

USD1 is a stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial Inc. (WLFI), a startup with Trump family connections. Since its launch in March 2025, as of August 2025, USD1’s total market value has reached $2.1 billion. This makes it the seventh most valuable stablecoin in terms of market value, surpassing Bityan’s FDUSD and PayPal’s PYUSD.

Currently, USD1 remains relatively small compared to other stablecoins. Its market value is only $2.4 billion, with daily trading volume of approximately $500 million. This is in stark contrast to Tether (USDT), which has a market value of around $16.7 billion and daily trading volume exceeding $10 billion, and Circle’s USDC, which has a market value of around $6.7 billion and daily trading volume of $20 billion.
